Day 3

Bisate means 'pieces' in Kinyarwanda, describing how the cone was once whole but worn away by natural erosion. 12 guests can stay in sumptuous en-suite rooms that maximise comfort and views while retaining environmental principals and reflecting the culture of surrounding rural Rwanda. Guests can experience daily gorilla trekking. Ten habituated groups can be tracked and observed in the Volcanoes National Park. While tracking expeditions do not necessarily cover great distances, they are over steep country at high altitudes and a certain amount of fitness is required. The gorilla trek is done as the morning activity and can last between two to eight hours. Return to Bisate Lodge to unwind and relax contemplating this once in a lifetime experience.

Minimum age for gorilla viewing is 15 years - this is for reasons of safety but also for possible disease transmission, with children under this age more prone to infection.
